ID Released For Lifelong Rockland Resident Found Dead In Ramapo River
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- In a strange twist of fate, a man who was found dead floating in the Ramapo River off Waldron Terrace on Tuesday, had tried to escape from police in the same river, close to the same spot, in 2015.Richard Morgan, 51, a lifelong resident of Sloatsburg, was recovered from the water around noon just north of the Thruway rest stop off Waldron Terrace, said Capt. Antoine DeColyse.
"At this time the investigation is ongoing and we are not releasing information, including a cause of death," said DeColyse.

Red Hook Man Sentenced For Defrauding Woman, Her Father
A Red Hook man could spend up to four years in behind bars for ripping off a woman and her elderly father of more than $100,000, according to the Ulster County District Attorney's Office.
Lance Lavender, 57, who was charged with first-degree scheme to defraud, was sentenced on Thursday, Aug. 3 to 1 1/3 to 4 years in state prison and ordered to pay $105,800 in restitution, the DA's office said.

Seen Him? Yonkers Police Search For Missing Man
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Police are asking for the public's help Friday in locating a man missing from the area of Saint John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers.
Damien Louis, 22, was last seen on Sunday, August 6 in the area of the hospital, said Yonkers Police Sgt. Dean Politopoulos.
Louis, who is described as a black male, 160 pounds, 6-foot with a black mohawk and brown eyes, was last seen wearing a blue collared shirt and khaki pants, police said.

Police: Suffern Man Shatters Glass In Argument With Dunkin' Donuts Worker
SUFFERN, N.Y. -- A Suffern man is behind bars after getting into an argument with an employee at the Dunkin´Donuts on Lafayette Avenue on Saturday and then kicking a door, police said.
Walter Hand, 55, was charged with felony criminal mischief after getting into the verbal argument and then kicking the door, shattering the glass, said Suffern Police Chief Clarke Osborn.
Hand, who was still in front of the business when police arrived, was taken into custody and transported to police headquarter. During his booking, a check of records found two prior felony convictions, Osborn said.
