John Shaban (R-135) and Bridgeport Mayor Joseph Ganim on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The Grizzlies are an Intercollegiate Club Football Federation team in southwestern Connecticut that pulls Connecticut community college athletes into a single football team to compete with college club teams in the northeast. He began his long career with New York state in 1971 and worked with the state Division of Veterans' Affairs from 1973 until he retired in December 2010. She is survived by her husband, William “Willie” Longo; children Debbie Longo-Matassa and husband Carl of Wallington, and Catherine Longo-Filoso of Rutherford; and grandson Bob Matassa. She was 99.  Karmel received a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in English literature from NYU.
