Fairfield 11-Year-Old Softball Team One Win Away From State Title FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Girls 11-year-old All-Star team is on a run to win the Little League state championship. The state championship series began this past weekend in Rocky Hill with Fairfield opening against Seymour Sunday afternoon. It turned out to be a great start as the Fairfield girls turned in a solid team performance, winning 9-0. Kylee Holderied pitched the entire game for Fairfield, striking out five while giving up only one hit. The entire team was solid on defense, registering 14 put-outs with only one error. Norwalk's 9-Year-Old Cal Ripken All-Stars Head To States On High Note NORWALK, Conn. -- In their final tuneup game before the state tournament, the Norwalk 9-year-old Cal Ripken District 1 champions prevailed over New Canaan, 7-1, at Mead Park on Wednesday. Matt Claps started the game and pitched two strong innings, striking out four and allowing one run. Chris Balchius, Vinny Velez and Sean Lengyel followed Claps and shut down New Canaan the rest of the way. Median Single Family Home Price Rises 12 Percent In Scarsdale WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Single family home sales slowed in the second quarter, but Scarsdale, Bronxville and some other lower Westchester communities saw a significant increase in home values. “Scarsdale is a bellwether community, and it’s as hot a market as we’ve seen,’’ said Chris Meyers, managing principal for Houlihan Lawrence. “There’s a wide variety of product in Scarsdale and all of them are doing pretty well. Notre Dame Of Fairfield Names New Girls Soccer Coach FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Former Norwalk High School Athletic Director Wayne Mones has been named the new girls soccer coach at Notre Dame High School of Fairfield. Mones retired recently from his position at Norwalk, where he served as athletic director for 10 years. He was previously the head coach at Central Catholic High School and Western Connecticut State University.
