Fairfield Girl Wins Golf Scholarship For 2nd Time FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield Ludlowe rising senior Sarah Gander has been named the recipient of The Kennedy Center's golf scholarship for the second straight year. Scholarship funds are raised through an annual tournament. Since its inception in 1991, this unique tournament has not only provided much-needed funds for the Trumbull-based Kennedy Center, but has also supported a junior golfer scholarship program for young golfers across the state. Car Fire Slows Merritt Traffic In Greenwich, Stamford NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A car fire on the Merritt Parkway on the Greenwich and Stamford border slowed northbound traffic Thursday afternoon. The fire occurred around 3:20 p.m. on the northbound Merritt between Exit 29 in Greenwich and Exit 33 in Stamford. Delays were expected up to one hour.

Westport Softball All-Stars Win District Opener WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport's 12-year-old softball All-Stars took the first step on the tournament trail Tuesday with an 8-6 win over Fairfield in the District 2 Tournament at Unity Park in Trumbull. Westport won the 10- and 11-year-old state championship last year. Most of those players from that team returned to Westport this summer.
