The crash happened on Tunxis Avenue in Bloomfield just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, when a vehicle struck him and then flipped onto its roof, police said.  The tow truck operator suffered severe head trauma and died at the scene, Bloomfield Police Capt. SUV Crushed Beneath Flatbed Trailer In Pittsfield Crash, Driver Critically Injured A driver suffered life-threatening injuries after his SUV struck a flatbed tractor-trailer in Pittsfield early Wednesday morning, Sept. 9.  The crash happened around 3:46 a.m.near 500 Cheshire Road, just south of the Lanesborough town line. Police said a 67-year-old man was driving a GMC Terrain south when the SUV hit an empty flatbed tractor-trailer as the truck crossed the road. The impact left the SUV lodged beneath the trailer.
