Expert To Discuss 'Sense and Sensibility' At Westport Library On April 9
WESTPORT, Conn. -- As a part of the Westport Library program "A Year of Reading Jane Austen," Dr. Mark Schenker of Yale College will lead a discussion of "Sense and Sensibility" on Saturday, April 9.
The program, offered in partnership with the Jane Austen Society North America, Connecticut Region, is free and open to the public. The novel was Austen's first published work, appearing in 1811 under the pseudonym "A Lady," since female authors were uncommon and frowned upon.

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Wyckoff Family YMCA is putting a new twist on the old garage sale with its "Junk in the Trunk" sale, just in time for spring cleaning, on Saturday, April 30.
"Clean out your closets and load up your trunk with clothing, furniture, kitchenware, baby items or knickknacks to sell from the back of your car or truck," organizers note.
Registration began April 1, and the registration deadline is April 25. The fee for members is $25 per parking space (or $40 for two spaces). For non-members, it's $30 for the single space and $45 for two.

Stratford Brewery Reaches $15K Crowdfunding Goal
STRATFORD, Conn. -- Fairfield Craft Ales, a music-inspired nanobrewery under construction on Honeyspot Road, in Stratford, has raised $18,000 toward its startup costs through its Kickstarter campaign.
Its 30-day campaign launched March 10, and it took 19 days to reach its $15,000 goal. Under Kickstarter's all-or-nothing rules, if a campaign doesn't reach its goal, its gets none of the pledged funds.
