Olga Toth, 85, Former Longtime Tarrytown Resident
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Olga Mary Toth, a Tallahassee, Fla., resident who was a former longtime Tarrytown resident, died on Saturday, Jan. 16. She was 85.
Born in North Tarrytown, Toth was a graduate of North Tarrytown High School. She was a member and past president of the Washington Engine Company 2 Ladies Auxiliary.
Toth was also the former proprietor of the Set Back Inn in Tarrytown.

Nicola 'Nick' Gionta, 84, Yonkers Resident
YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers resident Nicola "Nick" Gionta died Tuesday, Jan. 19. He was 84.
Born in Italy, Gionta immigrated to Argentina when he was 17. There, he learned what would become his life's work, the trade of master diesel mechanic. He moved on to Toronto, before finally settling in New York.
Gionta opened his own truck repair shop, NV Truck & Equipment Repairs in Mount Vernon, which he ran with his sons. He had a successful business for 25 years, until his retirement.

Anne Jean LaPolla, 88, Longtime Poughkeepsie Resident
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Longtime Poughkeepsie resident Anne Jean LaPolla died Tuesday, Jan. 19. She was 88.
LaPolla loved to garden, knit and collect antiques. She was a contributor to many charities, especially those supporting Native Americans.
She is survived by her sons, Robert LaPolla and Charles LaPolla; daughters-in-law Mary Perez and Ran LaPolla; grandchildren Dayle, Neal and Cole LaPolla; and longtime companion Allan Turits.
LaPolla was predeceased by her husband, Charles LaPolla, and her parents, John and Mary Livingston of Ireland.

SOMERS, N.Y. -- Edwin S. Aldrich, a Somers resident and former longtime resident of Katonah, died on Tuesday, Jan. 12. He was 86.
Born in Brattleboro, N. H., Aldrich was the assistant to the chairman of the board for Union Carbide, in Danbury, Conn.
He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Barbara.
Interment will be held at the Bedford Union Cemetery in the spring. Clark Associates Funeral Home, in Katonah, is assisting with arrangements.
Edwin Aldrich, 86, Former Katonah Resident
KATONAH, N.Y. -- Edwin S. Aldrich, former longtime resident of Katonah and resident of Somers, died on Tuesday, Jan. 12. He was 86.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Poughkeepsie resident Virginia M. Anson died Saturday, Jan. 16. She was 94.
Born in Poughkeepsie, Anson worked in the banking industry for many years. She began her career with the former Fallkill National Bank in Poughkeepsie, which was later acquired by the Bank of New York. She retired as a loan officer from the Bank of New York.
Anson was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hyde Park, as well as an avid reader.

Prolific Artist Susan 'Biba' Weimer, 93, Bronxville Native
BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Susan Joyce Weimer, a New Mexico resident who was born in Bronxville and was raised in Margaretville, died Monday, Jan. 18. She was 93.
After graduating high school in Margaretville, where her family has lived for generations, Weimer joined the Navy, serving as a gunnery instructor and a very young platoon leader.
Weimer earned many art degrees, and she joined the faculty at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania in 1969. She was a professor of painting, drawing and printmaking until her retirement.
