ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- Ardsley High School's DECA club, now in its second year, sent 17 of its 40 members to compete against New York's best at the New York DECA 2016 State Career Conference in Rochester March 9-11. DECA -- Distributive Educational Clubs of America -- is a national business club, with over 200,000 members worldwide. The organization prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management, in high schools and colleges around the globe.

Andrea Palais-Neider, 47, Yonkers Resident
YONKERS, N.Y. -- Andrea Palais-Neider, of Yonkers, died on Monday, March 14. She was 47.
Born and raised in Yonkers, Palais-Neider graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Fordham University. She recently worked for the Yonkers Parks Department, and she was involved in the PTA of School 21.
She is survived by her children, Stacie, Brandon, Deirdre and Emily; grandchildren Amber, Michael, Shawn and Kyle; parents Lorraine and Elliott Palais; siblings Mitchell, Eric and Allison; two nieces and two nephews; and many family members.

Sister Joan Malherek, 90, Former Ossining Resident
OSSINING, N.Y. -- Sister Joan Malherek -- a resident of Monrovia, California, formerly a longtime resident of Ossining -- died on Sunday, March 13. She was 90.Born in Minnesota, Malherek was an educator and pastoral worker She was a Maryknoll Sister for 65 years. She obtained a teacher's certificate from Mankato State Teachers College, then taught for six years in Minnesota's public schools. She entered the Maryknoll Sisters Congregation from Our Lady of Mercy Parish in the Diocese of Winona, Minnesota, with her younger sister Mary in 1951.
