Mid-Winter Book Sale Set At Southport's Pequot Library
SOUTHPORT, Conn. -- The annual Mid-Winter Book Sale will take place Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Pequot Library in Southport.
The sale includes fiction, classics, mystery, biography, history, cookbooks, record albums, CDs, DVDs, comics and more.
The sale is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the library's auditorium.

Former Journal News Editor CynDee Royle Dies At 57
CynDee Royle, "a fierce advocate for the public’s right to know who guided lohud and The Journal News into the digital age," died on Saturday, Feb. 6, at age 57 following a years-long battle with lung cancer, reported The Journal News.
Royle was The Journal News' vice president of news/editor until she stepped down in 2014 as a result of her illness.

Margarete Lowden, 82, Longtime Oakland Resident
OAKLAND, N.J. -- Margaret Lowden, a longtime Oakland resident, died on Friday, Feb. 5. She was 82.
Lowden was an elder and longtime member of Pond Reformed Church in Oakland. She and her husband owned Mailings Unlimited, in Pompton Lakes, retiring in 1995.
She is survived by her children, Mark Lowden and his wife Carol of Airmont, N.Y., and Cathy Lowden of Mahwah, and grandchildren Andrew and Erin Lowden.
Lowden was predeceased by her husband, Clement Lowden.

Melvin De Block, 93, Former Lodi Resident
LODI, N.Y. -- Melvin De Block, a longtime North Haledon resident and formerly of Lodi, died Saturday, Feb. 6. He was 93.
De Block was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired from Curtis Wright.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with family.
