Antonio Velazquez II, 50, Northvale Resident
NORTHVALE, N.J. -- Antonio Velazquez II, a Northvale resident and formerly of Union City, died Sunday, Jan. 3. He was 50. A U.S. Army veteran, Velazquez also was a graduate of La Salle Academy and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He worked for New York Life as an insurance agent.
Velazquez enjoyed kung fu and collecting comic books, and he was a political science, music, science fiction and sports car enthusiast. He enjoyed supporting his favorite teams, the New York Mets and the New England Patriots.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport resident Joao Moura Pereira died on Saturday, Jan. 2. He was 67.
He was born in Portugal to Jose Esteves Pereira and Teresa Alves Crespo.
He served in the Portuguese Army. He worked as a foreman with Heim Bearing Company for many years, before he retired.

HARTSDALE, N.Y. -- Lifelong Hartsdale resident Ronald Lawrence Baker died on Thursday, Dec. 31. He was 58.
Baker graduated from Don Bosco Prep in 1975 and Drexel University in 1980. He was a chemical engineer at EcoChem Analytics.
He loved his family, garden and fireplace. He was proud of his Polish heritage and volunteered as the president of the Westchester Pulaski Association.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport resident Philip Buchla died on Thursday, Dec. 31. He was 65.
He was born to Myron and Martha Buchlais in Bridgeport, and worked at SNET as a telephone operator for many years and retired from there.
He is survived by his brothers, Bruce Buchla and his wife, Therese of Estero, Fla., Robert Buchla and his wife, Sylvia of Plano, Ill., and Rodney Buchla of Bridgeport.

HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- Haverstraw resident Ana Ramona Encarnacion died on Saturday, Jan. 2. She was 91.
Born in the Dominican Republic, she is survived by seven children and a loving family.
Visitation hours will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the George M. Holt Funeral Home, 50 New Main St., in Haverstraw.
