Fairfield Residents Accepted Into Eastern Connecticut's Honors Program FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Two Fairfield residents were accepted into Eastern Connecticut University's selective honors program. Freshmen William Jeffries, a pre-secondary education major, and Thomas Luckner, a mathematics major, both were accepted into the program that is intended to demonstrate excellence in areas characteristic of liberal arts students. The University's Honors Program requirements and curriculum are intended to be intellectually challenging, while improving qualities that prepare graduates to become leaders in their communities.

Mahopac Man Arrested On Bail-Jumping Charge In Yorktown YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Yorktown Police charged a Mahopac man with failing to appear in court on bail-jumping charges on Monday, police said.  Victor L. Figueroa, 46, was detained by Carmel Police on the outstanding bench warrant. The warrant was issued in connection to an aggravated unlicensed operation charge from November 2014, police said.  Figueroa was arraigned and released on $500 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20, police said.
