Evelyn A. Scanlon, 82, Millbrook Resident MILLBROOK, N.Y. -- Evelyn A. Scanlon, a Millbrook resident and formerly a longtime resident of Valley Stream, died Monday, Jan. 25. She was 82. Scanlon was a dedicated career RN and spent many years caring for others. She started working as a public health nurse in the Long Island area, later at the A. Holly Paterson nursing home. She finally was a school nurse with the Holy Name of Mary School in Valley Stream, as well as in the Valley Stream School District No. 24, until she retired in the late 1990s. Born and educated in Germany, Goering completed a beer-making apprenticeship at Brauhaus Nurnberg and also received a brew master degree. He worked in Chile, Spain, Belgium and Denmark.
