Evelyn A. Scanlon, 82, Millbrook Resident
MILLBROOK, N.Y. -- Evelyn A. Scanlon, a Millbrook resident and formerly a longtime resident of Valley Stream, died Monday, Jan. 25. She was 82.
Scanlon was a dedicated career RN and spent many years caring for others. She started working as a public health nurse in the Long Island area, later at the A. Holly Paterson nursing home. She finally was a school nurse with the Holy Name of Mary School in Valley Stream, as well as in the Valley Stream School District No. 24, until she retired in the late 1990s.

Eileen Heonis, 59, Bridgeport Resident
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport resident Eileen Heonis died Friday, Jan. 22. She was 59.
Born in Texas, Heonis worked for 32 years at Sikorsky in Stratford.
She is survived by her sister, Terry Moore of New Haven; brother Charles Broadbent of Harwinton; sister Joanie Cote and longtime companion Phil Brown; and several nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
Heonis was predeceased by her parents, Kathleen Cantwell and Fred Broadbent.

DUMONT, N.J. -- Dumont resident Aniano B. Yabut died Wednesday, Jan. 27. He was 90.
Born in the Philippines, Yabut worked as a policeman in the Philippines. He was La Cabeza de Comunidad in Macabebe.
He is survived by his children, Marissa Garcia and Antonette Chester; grandchildren Johanna and Warren; and siblings Joseph, Dominador Jr., Priscilla, Virginia and Ligaya.
Yabut was predeceased by his wife, Severina Tulud.

WYCKOFF, N.J. -- Longtime Wyckoff resident Jennie Marcus died Tuesday, Jan. 26. She was 94.
Born in the Netherlands, Marcus came to the United States in 1927 and lived in Wyckoff since 1947. She was a member of Faith Reformed Church, in Midland Park.

GARFIELD, N.J. -- Longtime Garfield resident Olga Victoria (Komsa) Felber died Monday, Jan. 25. She was 93.
Born and raised in Passaic, Felber was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and Our Lady of Sorrows Church, both in Garfield. An avid reader, she also enjoyed traveling, gardening, antique and doll collecting, walking, visits to New York City and time spent with family.
Prior to retiring in 1962, Felber was a sales associate with Roman’s, in Saddle Brook, for 12 years.

Harald Goering Jr., 82, Darien Resident
DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien resident Harald Goering Jr. died Friday, Jan. 22. He was 82.
Born and educated in Germany, Goering completed a beer-making apprenticeship at Brauhaus Nurnberg and also received a brew master degree. He worked in Chile, Spain, Belgium and Denmark. In 1959, he was sent to New York to re-launch John Barth Inc., a company specializing in hops and brewery supplies. In 1974, Goering became the owner and chairman of K.H. McClure and Co., a Stamford-based import and export company.

SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- Ann "Annie" Weinberg -- a San Diego resident, formerly of Spring Valley -- died on Sunday, Jan. 24. She was 77.
Weinberg was born on July 6, 1938, in New York City.
Services were held on Wednesday Jan. 27, at Hellman Memorial Chapels, in Spring Valley. Interment was at Cedar Park Cemetery, in Paramus, N.J.
