Robert 'Babe' Hawkesworth, 74, Former Haverstraw Resident
HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. -- Robert “Babe” Hawkesworth -- a York, South Carolina, resident, formerly of Haverstraw -- died on Wednesday, Dec. 30. He was 74.
He was born on March 31, 1941, in Manhattan, New York to Alexander and Minnie Pearsall Hawkesworth.
Hawkesworth was an ex-captain and a 46-year member of Lady Warren Hose Co. No. 5 of the Haverstraw Fire Department. He was also a life member of the Rockland County Volunteer Fireman’s Association.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Longtime Bridgeport resident Noella Charpentier Sidarweck, who was born on Christmas Eve in 1922, died early on New Years Day, Friday, Jan. 1. She was 93.
Sidarweck was trained and worked as a hairdresser, and also worked with La Resistance, a manufacturing company, as a restaurant hostess and in catering. She was a talented seamstress and loved to knit.

BEACON, N.Y. -- Thomas D. Trochan, a lifelong area resident, died Monday, Jan. 4. He was 69.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Fishkill. Trochan was a past lieutenant at Lewis Tompkins Hose Fire Company No. 1 in Beacon.

RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- Rhinebeck resident Margaret "Rita" Sussi died Thursday, Dec. 31. She was 93. Sussi loved the fashion world, working in retail, first for Macy's Department Store, then for Bonwit Teller and Bergdorf Goodman, for a total of 28 years. She also was an assistant kindergarten teacher for five years.
She loved traveling -- visiting 19 countries -- dancing, needlepoint, playing bridge, seeking knowledge and creating beautiful watercolor art. She also volunteered at the Northern Duchess Hospital and the Starr Library in Rhinebeck.

YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers resident Angela C. Martone died Wednesday, Jan 6. She was 70.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Martone; children Ralph Martone and Laura Roublick; grandchildren Nicole, Christopher and JJ Roublick, and Bethani Martone; and sister Kathy Forian.

Work Off Pounds In Darien Y's Lean Machine Program
DARIEN, CT – Lean Machine, the Darien YMCA’s customized system for losing weight and getting fit, will begin another installment on Saturday, Jan. 16.
The competition will run for eight weeks, ending on Saturday, March 12.
This customized system is designed for adults of all ages and fitness levels. The competition aspect is based on body fat lost, instead of weight lost.
