Michael Scarborough, 59, Former New Canaan Resident
NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Michael Scarborough -- a resident of Friendship, Maine, but longtime resident of New Canaan -- died Sunday, Dec. 27. He was 59.
Scarborough spent 15 years of his career working for Connecticut newspapers, including Greenwich Time and Stamford Advocate. He moved to Maine in 1999, where he had jobs in journalism production -- as well as driving a truck for Thomaston Place Auctions.

HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Frank J. "Butch" Rushano III, a nine-year resident of Hyde Park and formerly of LaGrange, died Saturday, Dec. 26. He was 52. An avid outdoorsman and hunter, Rushano was a member of the Pleasant Valley Trout and Game Club. He worked for BSB Construction in Poughkeepsie for the past several years.

TEANECK, N.J. -- Lifelong Teaneck resident Michael Christopher Leone died Sunday, Dec. 27. He was 32. Leone was a data manager for Protected Trust, in Winter Haven, Fla. He was a member of and a firearm training instructor for the National Rifle Association.

PARAMUS, N.J. -- John R. Rolen, a resident of Pompano Beach, Fla. but formerly of Paramus, died Saturday, Dec. 26. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he also was a member of the VFW in Hackensack. Before retiring, Rolen worked for J.B. Eurell Construction Company.

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- Pearl River resident Bridie P. Van Slyck died on Friday, Dec. 25. She was 88. Born in Ireland in 1927, Van Slyck immigrated to the United States in 1948. After being a homemaker, she was a health-care aide in the Bronx. When she retired, she moved to Pearl River.
Van Slyck was active in St. Aedan Catholic Church, and its Legion of Mary, whose mission is the spiritual and social welfare of the community.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- Longtime Ridgewood police officer and local resident Anthony N. Cortazzo died Monday, Dec. 28. He was 89. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Cortazzo served in the Ridgewood Police Department for 38 years. He retired after spending 10 years of those years as a captain.
He was an active member of the Riverside Vets in Paterson. He was an avid and well-known golfer in the area for many years.

Gary Rabb, 55, Of Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport resident Gary Louis Rabb died Thursday, Dec.17. He was 58. He was born in Bridgeport and was the oldest of 11 children.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Dorothy (Davis) Rabb.
A memorial service will be conducted from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4 at the United House of Prayer for all People, 2525 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport.
