Bridgeport Man Hurt By Shots Through His Apartment Door BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man is in stable condition after being shot multiple times through his apartment door on Sunday night, according to the Connecticut Post.  Two masked men knocked on the victim's door on Saunders Avenue about 7:30 p.m., the Post said. The victim opened the door but quickly closed it when he saw one of the suspects was armed, the Post said. Chappaqua Library Hosts Civil War Author Talk CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- Author Jamie Malanowski will visit the Chappaqua Library to discuss his book on Civil War hero Will Cushing at 7 p.m. Friday. Cushing, who was was the author of many daring exploits, most notably, the sinking of the CSS Albemarle, is largely forgotten today.  Malanowski is a member of the original staff of Spy and has been an editor at Time, Esquire and Playboy. Apparent Suicide On Newburgh-Beacon Bridge Under Investigation DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- New York State Police are investigating an apparent suicide after a man left his vehicle on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge and apparently jumped into the Hudson River on Sunday, according to officials.  Anthony M. Sinishtaj, 31, of Stormville apparently stopped in the westbound lanes of the span and left his vehicle with the hazard lights on. A good samaritan alerted authorities who later recovered Sinishtaj's body from the river, police said.  State Police were assisted by the Town of Fishkill Police Department and the City of Beacon Fire Department.
