POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Najah Jeanette Fowler Abbott, also known as "Precious" and "Slick," died on Sunday, Feb. 14. She was 24.
Born in New London, Connecticut, Abbott attended Spackenkill schools. She graduated from Franklin Delano Roosevelt High school and attended Dutchess Community College, until she became ill.
Abbott is survived by her mother, Kimberly Abbott; grandfather Andrew Abbott; aunt Andrea Abbott; special friend Kimisha Walters of Florida; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Cornelia Johnson Abbott.

John Edward English, 84, Northvale Resident
NORTHVALE, N.J. -- John Edward English, of Northvale, died on Tuesday, Feb. 16. He was 84.
English was an ironworker and life member of Local 40 in New York City. He also worked for the New York City Department of Buildings.
He loved boating, especially with his sons and grandchildren. "He also enjoyed his afternoon table at Dunkin Donuts, where he will be dearly missed," according to information provided by the Pizzi Funeral Home.

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- Christopher M. Scaperrotta, a lifelong resident of Dobbs Ferry and Ardsley, died on Tuesday, Feb. 16. He was 89.
Born and raised in Dobbs Ferry, Scaperrotta was a Navy veteran of the Korean War era. He managed his family business, Scappy's Harmony Inn until it was sold, in 2000. He loved dancing, going to the theater, dinning out and traveling. He was an avid golfer, bowler and swimmer.

Born in Mount Kisco, Ruland was a member of Pi Nu Epsilon at SUNY Delhi College. She loved karaoke and dancing.
She was a member of the Scleroderma Foundation, and she helped organize the annual Scleroderma fundraising walk.
